MINISTER FOR SOCIAL SECURITY
REPORT
The Attendance Allowance Board meets every two to three weeks to decide whether the medical conditions of claimants to Attendance Allowance are such that an Attendance Allowance should be awarded. Under the Attendance Allowance (Jersey) Law 1973, a Board member is appointed for three years.
The Minister for Social Security is pleased and grateful that the existing members of this Board who have maintained a balance of continuity, consistency and a spread of experience that is essential in assessing Attendance Allowance, are prepared to continue in office. As Attendance Allowance is one of the benefits to be integrated into the Income Support scheme, the Attendance Allowance Board will not be needed when Income Support is implemented in 2007.
There are no additional financial or manpower implications for the States arising from this proposition.
