REPORT
The Regulations governing the Committee of Management of the Public Employees' Contributory Retirement Scheme provide for the appointment of employer and employee representatives, who sit in an honorary capacity.
The member representatives are nominated in a manner which is acceptable to the States Employment Board and are drawn from the Public Employees Pension Scheme Joint Negotiating Group (the Group), a body which is comprised of representatives from all of the Unions and Associations with members in the Scheme. The Group have chosen Ms Barbara Ward to replace Mr. William McPhee and Mr. Mark Johnson to replace Mr. Francis Greene, who recently resigned as member representatives from the Committee of Management. The Chief Minister, in accordance with Regulation 3(2) of the Regulations, is therefore nominating Ms Ward and Mr. Johnson to serve on the Committee of Management, for the term of office to expire on 31st December 2009.
Ms Ward is a long-serving employee of over 30 years, employed by the Health and Social Services Department, and is a staff representative in the Civil Service Staff Association.
Mr. Johnson has been employed by the Jersey Fire and Rescue Service for some 23 years and is a senior officer within the Fire and Rescue Service.
