OQ.145/2023

ORAL QUESTION FOR MONDAY 17th JULY 2023

Deputy M.B. Andrews of St. Helier North will ask the following question of the Minister for Health and Social Services –

“Will the Minister advise what consideration, if any, has been given to commissioning third-sector services to deliver Health and Community Services objectives and, furthermore, whether any such consideration is anticipated in the future?”

The following response was provided in writing in accordance with Standing Order 63(9) as the oral question was not asked before the end of the time allowed for Oral Questions:

Answer

“HCS already commission third sector providers to deliver against my objectives. We currently have direct commissioning relationships with several local providers, delivering over £15million worth of services in the

community.

In the delivery of my priorities, commissioning in partnership has been central in the development of the End-of-life and the Dementia strategies, including the implementation of the End-of-life business case.

A commissioning approach has also been taken with the development of the community and mental health frameworks and will feature strongly as these develop and are implemented.

Commissioning and partnership working with third sector partners will remain at the centre of the delivery of the health and community objectives.”
