WQ.199/2025

WRITTEN QUESTION TO THE MINISTER FOR TREASURY AND RESOURCES

BY DEPUTY J. RENOUF OF ST. BRELADE

QUESTION SUBMITTED ON TUESDAY 6th MAY 2025

ANSWER TO BE TABLED ON WEDNESDAY 14th MAY 2025

Question

"Will the Minister, as shareholder representative, request from JT Group Limited –

  1. how many people are being made redundant in its current round of redundancies;
  2. whether any of those being made redundant have been asked to sign Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) and if so, why?"

Answer

  1. There is no current round of redundancies taking place across JT Group Limited. However, since 1 January 2024, a total of 59 roles have been made redundant, of which 35 were based in Jersey. These changes form part of a broader transformation of the company, including a restructuring of JT's approach to delivering and maintaining resilient, secure, and reliable networks that best serve the Island. This transformation includes an investment of approximately £85 million in a new Ericsson network to meet the latest security requirements, as unanimously approved by the States Assembly (P.47/2024), alongside a programme of efficiency measures to ensure these costs can be sustainably managed.
  2. None of JT's Jersey employees made redundant were asked to sign Non-Disclosure Agreements.
