7th January 2019

Dear Mr Le Cam and Mr Boucher

Jersey's Future Hospital

Thank you for your letter dated 14th December 2018 regarding Jersey's future hospital and for your offer to carry out a feasibility study on the alternative sites and to visit you in Plérin, France.

As a States Assembly Scrutiny Panel, our role is to impartially scrutinise the Government's progress towards delivering the future hospital project and to ensure that it will meet the needs of patients and clinicians.

With this is mind, we do not think it would be appropriate for the Scrutiny Panel to commission this work as it constitutes policy development. It is therefore a matter for the Government rather than for Scrutiny.

We are not in a position to visit you in Plérin at this time but if this changes we will be in contact.

If you haven't already, you may want to write directly to the Chief Minister, Senator John Le Fondré, or alternatively the Minister for Health and Social Services, Deputy Richard Renouf , who between them have responsibility for the future hospital.

Yours sincerely

Deputy Kevin Pamplin Chairman
