Minister for Health and Social Services BY EMAIL

2nd March 2021 Dear Minister

Safer Travel Guidelines

I am writing to you in the hope that we can establish a way of working which will be helpful both to your team and to the work of the Safer Travel Guidelines Review Panel as we move through 2021 and as the situation in relation to travel to and from Jersey continues to develop.

As a Panel, we fully appreciate that the situation in relation to all COVID-19 restrictions is fluid and can change swiftly but as previously stated we would welcome advance notice of the future strategy on a confidential basis if required in relation to changes to travel guidelines, together with a predicted timeframe for these changes, in order that we can provide a proactive and effective scrutiny response.

It would be extremely helpful for us to be aware, for instance, of whether changes to guidance are likely to be rapid or due to start in the very short term or if any changes are unlikely for a longer period and, in any event, what the nature of that change is likely to be.

I would be grateful for your earliest response and assistance in this matter. Yours sincerely,

Deputy Robert Ward

Chair, Safer Travel Guidelines Review Panel

cc Senator John Le Fondré, Chief Minister
