Dear Assistant Minister,
Anti-Doping and National Compliance Platform Policy
The Economic and International Affairs Scrutiny Panel has recently discussed the Anti-Doping and National Compliance Platform Policy (the Policy) and would value further clarification.
The Policy indicates that it is responsible for formulating the Jersey anti-doping in sport policy and supplying information and reports in respect thereof in accordance with Article 31 of the UNESCO International Convention against Doping in Sport. Please could you confirm that the Island is now compliant with international standards in anti-doping in sport or if further actions are required?
The Panel notes that section 9 of the Policy identifies the sanctions if any Jersey Athlete were to test positive for prohibited substances. Could you outline the enforceability of the actions identified in that section and clarify if a regulatory framework has been considered to enable enforcement?
We would be grateful if you could respond to this no later by Friday 7th July 2023 in line with the 5 working days approved for responses between Scrutiny Panels and Ministers.
