Michael Johnson Chairman
Jersey Funds Association
BY EMAIL 4th July 2023
Dear Mr Johnson ,
P.36/2023 Draft EU Legislation (Information Accompanying Transfers of Funds) (Amendment) (Jersey) Regulations 202-
Following the lodging of the Draft EU Legislation (Information Accompanying Transfers of Funds) (Amendment) (Jersey) Regulations 202- (P.36/2023) (the proposed Regulations) the Economic and International Affairs Panel (the Panel) is seeking further clarification on the impact of the potential legislation.
The Panel has received correspondence from Jersey Finance Limited which indicated that the Jersey Funds Association may have views on the matter, and we would be appreciative of any comment on the proposed Regulations you wish to share. This includes the following points:
- What specific consultation with the Jersey Funds Association and the wider industry has been undertaken with respect to the proposed Regulations, noting that a wider public consultation has taken place?
- Have any issues or concerns been raised?
- Noting the widening of Regulations to bring into scope virtual asset service providers or money or value transfer service providers, what impact will there be upon the Island's Financial Services?
Noting that the proposed Regulations are scheduled to be debated on the 18th July 2023, we would be grateful if you could respond to this letter at your earliest convenience.
If you have any questions regarding this or our work in general, please do not hesitate to contact me. Please note that unless otherwise stated, all letters will be uploaded to the Scrutiny website as a matter of course.
Yours sincerely,
Deputy Moz Scott
Chair
Economic and International Affairs Scrutiny Panel
