Minister for Economic Development, Tourism, Sport and Culture
BY EMAIL 31st May 2023
Dear Minister,
Future Economy Programme progress
The Panel has recently undertaken further discussion of the Future Economy Programme and would be grateful for additional clarification.
• Noting your letter of the 21st April 2023, in which you identify that full Economic Strategy will build on from the Outline Economic Strategy and detail how the 2040 vision can be achieved, we would be grateful if you could identify if there will be a document produced this year that will refine the vision and/or identify the policy decisions which you will need to make in order to refine the vision and drive future economic policy?
• The Panel understands from your letter that informal consultation is due to be undertaken. Please could a list of the attendees to be invited to any internal or external workshops be provided?
• The Panel would also value confirmation that the members of the previous Economic Council have been directly contacted as part of informal discussions of the Future Economy Programme, given their former contribution to economic advice to which the Outline Economic Strategy refers?
We would be grateful if you could respond to this letter no later than Wednesday 7th June 2023 in line with the 5 day response period required for correspondence between Scrutiny Panels and Ministers. Should you require additional time in which to respond, please let our officer know.
If you have any questions regarding this, or our work in general, please do not hesitate to contact me. Please note that unless otherwise stated, all letters will be uploaded to the Scrutiny website as a matter of course.
Yours sincerely,
Deputy Moz Scott
Chair
Economic and International Affairs Scrutiny Panel
