Deputy Helen Miles , Minister for Home Affairs BY EMAIL

12th September 2023

Dear Deputy Miles ,

Ambulance Service engagement on New Healthcare Facilities Programme

As part of its review of the New HealthCare Facilities Programme, the Future Hospital Review Panel would be grateful for information about engagement with staff based at the Ambulance Station.

Please could you confirm whether your view has been sought by the New Healthcare Facilities Programme Team or the New Healthcare Facilities Ministerial Group on the following areas?

Any challenges for emergency vehicle access to an acute hospital sited at Overdale.

Any challenges for the Patient Transport Service raised by multi-site healthcare facilities.

Any potential impact on staffing levels caused by the multi-site option and siting of the options outlined in the Government’s proposals.

If you have been asked for your view in these areas could you confirm how has this been reflected in the Strategic Outline Case for the New Healthcare Facilities Programme?

Please could you also outline what direct discussions you have had with Ambulance Service staff (both frontline paramedics and Patient Transport Service staff) and service managers about any concerns they have about the multi-site option preferred by the Government and the siting of the various facilities?

Yours sincerely

Deputy Sam Mézec
