Minister for Health and Social Services
BY EMAIL 21st May 2024
Dear Minister,
Hospital Review Panel: Hospital Programme update
I write to inform you that the Hospital Review Panel has been reconstituted by the Scrutiny Liaison Committee. The Panel is constituted of Deputy Jonathan Renouf (Chair), Deputy Steve Ahier (Vice-Chair), and members Deputy Alex Curtis and Deputy Karen Wilson .
The aim of the Review Panel is to scrutinise Government's progress towards delivering the New Healthcare Facilities project and to ensure that this project will meet the needs of both patients and clinicians.
The Panel is currently gathering information to inform its scoping and Terms of Reference. As part of the information gathering, the Panel has some questions and would be grateful if you could provide responses to the following questions by Wednesday 29th May 2024.
Financing proposals
- Please can you confirm:
- How the Government will bring forward the proposal for financing of the New Health Facilities to the States Assembly for approval?
- If the lodging process will differ from the current proposal within the Government Plan 2024-2027 to "bring forward a standalone Proposition to seek approval for delivery of Phase 1 of the programme and its financing", and, if so, what the new process will be?
Mental Health Facilities
- Please can you provide the Panel with an update on how the New Health Facilities project is progressing, specifically it's alignment to any forthcoming Healthcare Strategy and Mental Health Strategy?
a) If there is no strategy in place, please can you explain the reasons for not developing a strategy?
- Please can the Panel be provided with:
- details of the plans for Jersey's Mental Health Care Facilities?
- a breakdown of all the locations that are currently designated as Mental Health Care Facilities and detail as to the provisions that are provided at each of these sites?
- details as to the Mental Health Care facilities currently located in St Saviours Hospital?
- information as to any future sites that are currently considered for future Mental Health Care Facilities?
Yours sincerely,
Deputy Jonathan Renouf Chair
