1. Record of Meeting

The Panel approved the record of its meeting held on 11th April, which was signed accordingly by the Chairman.

2. Work Programme

The  Panel  noted  correspondence  from  the  Minister  for  Economic Development,  responding  to  its  request  for  precise  and  detailed timetables for work being undertaken in the following areas:

Financial Services Ombudsman Incorporation of Airport and Harbours Economic Growth Strategy

Jersey Business

Digital Jersey

Tourism PPP

Skills Strategy

The Panel agreed that the Chairman would speak to the President of the Chairmen's Committee regarding co-ordination of any Scrutiny work relating to the cross-Departmental Skills Strategy.

The Panel also agreed to request further information from the Minister regarding the staffing of Jersey Business.

3. Aircraft Registry

The  Panel  agreed  that  draft  outline  question  areas  for  the  Public Hearing with the Minister for Economic Development on 4th May would be  circulated  for  its  consideration  in  order  to  develop  questions.  It further agreed to explore potential dates for a site visit to Jersey Airport, noting that 11th May or 17th May appeared to be suitable options.

4. Legislation Programme

The  Panel  noted  the  Legislation  Programme  for  the  Economic Development Department, and agreed that it would use the opportunity of the next Quarterly Update Hearing with the Minister for Economic Development to discuss certain areas.

 

 

5. Future Meetings

 

 

The Panel noted that its next meeting was scheduled to take place on 4th  May,  Le  Capelain  Room,  States  Building.  This  meeting  would include  an  Aircraft  Registry  Public  Hearing  with  the  Minister  for Economic  Development,  and  a  private  briefing  from  the  Economic Department regarding the incorporation of the harbours and airport.
