1. Population Policy/Long Term Plan

The Panel received a briefing on the Interim Population Policy and Long Term Plan Framework from Senator P.F. Routier MBE, Assistant Chief Minister, Mr. P. Bradbury, Director of Corporate Policy and Dr. I. Skinner,  Head  of  Strategic  Planning.  The  Panel  considered  and discussed confidential documentation that was provided on both of these subjects.

The Panel was advised that the same information had been provided to the Council of Ministers on 27th November 2013. It was further advised that Senator Routier and the Officers were due to update the document  on  the  Interim  Population  Policy  and  re-present  to  the Council of Ministers on 18th December 2013. It was agreed that it would be very helpful if the Panel was also updated once the Council of Ministers had met. The Officer was therefore requested to enact the necessary arrangements.

It was recalled that the Panel had previously requested an updated timetable  for  the  development  of  the  Interim  Population  Policy, including a new lodging and debate date. The Panel was advised that the  Council  of  Ministers  would  be  asked  to  consider  an  updated timetable at its next meeting.
