1.  Special Education Needs Provision

The  Panel  agreed  that  it  needed  to  visit  some  further  schools. Preferably those without specific SEN provision. A suitable date was to be established that was convenient for the advisor to travel to Jersey.

On considering the evidence to date, the Panel agreed that it was in a position in the review where it was not ready to hold a public meeting with the Minister on 11th May. That date was to be cancelled. The Panel also agreed that it would be useful if the public hearing with the Minister could be in the evening. This would allow members of the public who had an interest, but were working, to attend.

It was also recognised that bringing the advisor over for a further visit to schools had not been part of the original business plan for the review and meant that the budget needed revising. It was agreed that the budget was to be reset as follows:

Transcription costs at £600 per day: 3days = £ 1,800 Call for submissions: 2 x ¼ page adverts in JEP = £ 2,000 Expert Advisor. 20 days work at £800 per day = £16,000 Visits = £ 5,000

Total =  £24,800

These changes were to be presented to the Chairmen's Committee for approval.

The Panel noted arrangements for numerous meetings between the officer and members of the public to discuss submissions.

In recalling the usefulness of the evening meeting with members of the public, the Panel agreed to hold another such session. This meeting was to be conducted during the period the advisor was in Jersey to visit the schools, allowing the advisor to be present during the session.

The Panel recognised that due to additional work in the review, there

was slippage in the originally agreed timeline and agreed to a revised version. The Panel was to aim for presentation of the report during the week commencing 20th July 2015.
