Item 2 09.06.16 515/37 | 1. Dormant Bank Accounts Members agreed that the Chief Minister's amendment to the draft law (lodged on 14th June 2016) met with expectations and therefore there was no need for further action by the Panel in this respect. Some uncertainty was initially expressed over exactly how the wording of the draft law identified the inclusion of precious metals and stones in the scheme as being entirely optional for banks, but the Panel was assured that the law draftsman had confirmed that was the case. The Panel discussed some of the key points arising from the review and the Scrutiny Officer was asked to produce suitable draft Comments in time for final approval by the Panel at its meeting on 22nd June. | MO |
| 2. Quarterly Public Hearing The Panel discussed possible topics for the public hearing with the Minister for Economic Development, Tourism, Sport and Culture due to take place on 6th July 2016. It was noted that the Medium Term Financial Plan Addition would have been published by that date and could therefore be expected to take up a large part of the discussion. |
