1.  Quarterly Hearing with Education Minister

The  Panel  discussed  and  made  preparations  for  the  forthcoming quarterly public hearing with the Minister for Education. It made minor amendments to a question plan and noted that the hearing was at St Paul's  Centre  at  7pm  on  19th  May  2016.  The  Panel  would  meet beforehand to make final preparations. It was also recalled that the hearing was to be filmed with the footage being publicly released.

2.  P15.2016 Draft Education (Amendment No.3) (Jersey) Law 201-

Following a discussion on how to procced in relation to P15.2016, which had been referred to Scrutiny under article 72 of Standing Orders, the Panel agreed that the Chairman was to lead the review and progress the work as necessary with the officer.

3.  Nursery Education Funding

The Panel recognised that the evidence was being collated from the submissions and that the report would be drafted as expeditiously as possible. This was to take priority over other work.

The Panel considered P.39/2016, Nursery Funding: Implementation of Proposed Changes, lodged au Greffe by Deputy M. Tadier on 12th April 2016, along with an amendment lodged by the Minister for Education, and discussed the impact that had on its work for the review.

4.  School Starting Age

The Panel recognised that due to other work that had to take priority over the School Starting Age Review, the report was to be delayed until it could be drafted. It was intended that this would be completed before the MTFP was lodged on 30th June 2016.
