Item 1 05.07.16 516/36(3) | 1. Medium Term Financial Plan Addition The Panel welcomed the Jersey representative of the NUT. Mr Ward explained the impact that the Medium Term Financial Plan Addition (MTFP) was expected to have on the members of the NUT, the schools within which they worked and the children their members taught. Concerns included further cuts in non-staff funding in schools, which impacted on standards. Further cuts were proposed in other education areas to fund the pupil premium initiative, which was being done without sufficient funds. Cuts in pay for newly qualified teachers was likely to cause problems in recruitment and retention. Numerous other areas of concern were discussed, however, the end result would be a negative impact on the young people of Jersey. |
