1.  Jersey Appointments Commission

The Panel welcomed the Rt Hon Dame Janet Paraskeva DBE to a private  meeting  to  discuss  the  work  of  the  Jersey  Appointments Commission.

2.  The Law Society of Jersey Law 2005: Amendment

The Panel welcomed Mr D. Melville from the Channel Islands Financial Ombudsman.  The  structure  and  purpose  of  the  Channel  Islands Financial Ombudsman was discussed.

Following the meeting, the Panel agreed to proceed with publishing a comments paper on the proposals outlined in P.136/2016.

3.  Future Hospital Funding Strategy

The Panel noted the deferral of the debate on the Hospital Funding Strategy from 18th April 2017 to 2nd May 2017. The Panel further noted that a date of Friday 28th April had been set for it to brief States Members on its Amendment to P.130/2017 and its report on the Funding Strategy.

It  was  recalled  that  the  Chartered  Institute  of  Public  Finance  and Accountancy (CIPFA) had been engaged to provide a report to the Panel on  the  funding  options  under  consideration.  It  was  also  noted  that CIPFA's report would be provided to the Panel on 26th April. The structure of the Panel's presentation to Members was discussed and the Officer was asked to prepare the necessary PowerPoint slides.
