Item 2 24.02.17 | 2. Jersey Sport: Establishment Members discussed the Assistant Minister's letter of 23rd February and the draft Proposition received from Economic Development, Tourism, Sport and Culture on 28th February. The Panel also noted amended Articles of Association for Jersey Sport received at the Scrutiny Office shortly before the meeting. It was felt that the need for this urgent Proposition was itself a matter of some concern, suggesting that preparations for the launch of Jersey Sport may have been rushed. It was agreed that the Panel could not accept wording to the effect that the Panel had been consulted on this matter, as this was not the case. The Panel had asked for and received a private briefing on Jersey Sport following the publication of the Jersey Sport Report in September 2016. No views had been offered on the proposals. It was agreed to write to the Assistant Minister explaining the above, and advising him that the Panel now proposed to review the establishment of Jersey Sport. It was noted that the prioritisation of this new review might need to be balanced against current work on the draft Licensing Law. | MO |
