Mental Health The Panel heard that the department had made a recent grant to Mind Jersey of £38,000 in order to provide a Mental Health worker within local schools, to pick up issues with young people prior to them accessing the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAHMS). It was noted that this was a result of the Mental Health Strategy. Physical Intervention The Panel was informed about a proposition regarding physical intervention and protection given to teachers. It was noted that Jersey policy was in line with UK policy, but this policy was not in line with Jersey Law. The Panel noted that a proposition relating to the MTFP Addition was to be lodged whereby the department was to reduce the subsidy paid to the fee paying schools. The Panel noted that the reduction was intended to be 3% over two years, with 1.5% in 2018 and 1.5% in 2019. The Panel noted that this proposition was to be lodged later in the week with the debate intended before the summer recess. |
