09/02/17 Item 2 517/36 | 3. Long-Term Care Scheme Review The Panel received an update from the Officer regarding its review and noted that letters to key stakeholders had been drafted and would be sent out in due course. The Panel also received several written submissions which had been anonymised by the Scrutiny Office. The Panel noted that a briefing with the Social Security Department was in the process of being organised as requested. In that regard, the Officer explained that the Department had suggested a joint briefing with the Health and Social Services Department. After discussing the matter, the Panel declined the offer of a joint briefing and agreed that in the first instance it would request a briefing from the Health Department specifically on the assessment process. After this had taken place, the Panel tasked the Officer to arrange two separate briefings with the Social Security Department and Health Department. Furthermore, due to the complicated nature of the Long-Term Care Scheme, the Panel requested that the briefings were transcribed so that transcripts would be made | KB KB |

The Officer advised that the search for an advisor who had actuarial expertise was ongoing. The Officer advised that it may be more appropriate to undertake the review as a Sub-Panel with Members of the Education and Home Affairs Panel due to the crossover between the two Panels. The Panel noted that further information regarding what input the Health Department had with delivering mental health in the prison would be received imminently and agreed to discuss how to proceed with the review further once that information had been received. |
