1. Long-Term Care Scheme Review

The Panel received a joint briefing on the Long-Term Care Scheme from Officers  from  the  Health  and  Social  Services  and  Social  Security Departments. The proceedings were recorded in order that a transcript could be made for information purposes only.

The Officers explained the assessment process, how the system had improved since it was implemented in 2014 and the referral process.

The Health and Social Services Department offered to provide two case studies to the Panel to show how someone with high level needs and someone with low level needs may access the scheme. The Panel requested the Department to provide any other paperwork which may be useful for the review.

The Officers invited the Panel to attend a second briefing at the Social Worker's Office in order to see first-hand how the assessment process worked.  The  Panel  requested  the  Officer  to  make  the  necessary arrangements.
