512/1(1) | 1. PAC Chairmanship The Committee met to discuss the recent publication of the Care Inquiry Report. In that Report, the Chairman was said to have lied about events leading to the suspension of the Chief of Police in 2008, (at the time he was the Home Affairs Minister). The Chairman explained he did not accept that aspect of the Report and would step aside from his responsibilities as Chairman, in order to maintain the integrity of the PAC and so that he could concentrate on co-operating with the Privileges and Procedures Committee (PPC), who will investigate the matter. The Chairman delegated his PAC responsibilities and duties to the Vice-Chairman and agreed to circulate a press statement in respect of the decision. |
