01/03/17 Item 1 | 1. Draft Disability Discrimination Regulations The Panel discussed the way forward with its inquiries into the draft Regulations. The Panel recalled that the Chairman and Vice-Chairman had intended on lodging an amendment to the Regulation to remove the exemption on addiction. The Chairman advised that not enough evidence had been undertaken to support a complete removal of the paragraph on addiction. In that regard, the Chairman asked the Panel to consider various options including a reference back to the Minister or the Panel calling in the Regulations itself. The Panel agreed that the preferred option was to call in the Regulations during the debate on 20th March. The Chairman advised that he would discuss the Panel's options with the Greffier of the States, after which a formal decision would be made via email. | KB/RR |
