Letter received from Mrs Angela Godfrey 23rd May 2006

Dear Sirs

Goods and Service Tax

As one of the voluntary Hospital car drivers I meet many people who are concerned, as I am, as to how much a tax on medicines, doctors, dentists and chiropodists will cost.

If one has an ongoing illness such as diabetes, asthma, epilepsy etc it could amount to a significant sum especially for those on low and middle incomes.

A tax on nursing homes, heating, veterinary bills, insurance, plumbers and essential services which are also needed by the elderly will bite hard into pensions and savings.

A G & S tax is unfair on those too old or ill to go out to work and earn more to pay for the States profligacy in the past.

Tax luxury goods and high earners not the vulnerable. Yours faithfully

(Mrs) Angela Godfrey
