At last, speed limits on the island are about to change. For years, we have felt that 40mph is much too high for Jersey's roads.

We would like to see all roads changed to 30mph with the exception of Green Lanes which should remain at l5mph....if speed is made 20mph, they will drive 30! Towns, villages and school areas should also have l5mph limits. We see frequent speeders on La Grande Route de Sablons and still notice speeders on the St. Clement roads despite their 30mph limit. Anyone driving over the speed limits should be penalised...point system and penalties such as losing driving licence and/or heavy fines should be enforced.

Speed cameras should be used by the police at different times of day and night and in varying places to try to control speeders. Anyone caught driving 5mph or more over the limit should lose their licence for a year or more, depending on the speed. People and animals are losing their lives due to those inconsiderate drivers. Higher speed ensures more serious injuries and damage.
