I have a daughter at Beaulieu and a son at De La Salle and want to register my objection to the proposed grant reductions which will inevitably increase school fees at these schools already straining to manage within their budgets. These schools also have the additional burden of funding capital refurbishments and making interest payments on any loans necessarily obtained for that purpose, I am certainly aware that Beaulieu has such a loan at the present. These schools provide high quality education, a large part of the cost is funded by parents and reduces the burden on the public purse. To my certain knowledge many parents at both schools are at the limit of what they can afford to pay and if children are forced out of these schools due to reduced grants and consequential increased fees they will require to be fully funded in the state school system which may in time make the private schools unviable increasing further the cost of education to the public and senselessly destroying schools which are performing well. In the case of the Catholic fee paying schools already receiving less public funding than the other fee paying schools and the financial strain this already imposes the implications of grant reduction are even graver.
Please do everything you can to stop the proposed grant reductions.
