I am writing to provide my view regarding the current proposals for electoral reform in Jersey.
My view is that this should become a further referendum that breaks down the proposals to obtain the support of the voting public on each change and not a job lot as offered in the 2013 vote.
My experience has been that voters are looking for electoral reform with a reduction in the number of States members, but not super constituencies.
My suggestion therefore is a referendum that includes several distinct yes/no questions and in particular that includes the question do you want to replace twelve parish districts with six super constituencies.
Option three from the original vote did not provide a balanced reform proposal that would retain the parishes so I feel the vote did not necessarily reflect the view of voters on the question of super constituencies.
Many thanks Jenny Fowle
