Dear Panel

I attended the meeting last night at St. Ouen s and when I arrived I had an open mind as to the changes proposed. At the end of the meeting, which I found helpful, I have concluded that none of the changes that have been put forward should happen. I do not believe that any of these will improve the running of government.

My own view is, that if we remove the Senators from the States then the Connétable s should also be removed. This would mean "one class" of person in the States being all Deputies. I also believe these Deputies should be voted in as at present, i.e. by the 12 Parishes individually (with due adjustment as to fair representation based on electoral numbers of each Parish)

I sense there is no appetite to remove the Connétable s from the Assembly at present, so the status quo should prevail.

In finishing I would like to say that I have no problem with the Connétable s being part of the States Assembly per se and that I am a fan of the Senators being there.

Yours sincerely Roy Manning
