I write to make the following comments in regard to the much overdue electoral reform.

  1. I support Deputy Andrew Lewis ' proposition.
  2. I support the removal of the position of Senators. Frankly the idea that deputies and constables do not have an island wide mandate is utterly preposterous in an island of 45 square miles.
  3. I support the creation of six super constituencies which hopefully will create greater engagement with the electorate and increase voter turnout.
  4. I also believe it is time we had a truly democratically elected government with, Separation of Powers, removal of the Bailiff as President and instead have an elected speaker and; 5. We must elect our Chief Minister not the current system. He or she should declare their intention to stand for Chief Minister on the ballot paper.

Yours faithfully Robert Wareing-Jones
