I'd like to know, if a person chose to opt out of the opt-out organ donation' system, (which is their right), how can they be 100% reassured, that their wishes will be adhered to, once they've died, and not just simply ignored? Thank you.

Why don't we simply make it a requirement of applying for a Registration Card, Driving Licence, Dog Licence, Income Support, Pension, Income Tax Return etc. etc. to tick a box to harvest Y/N? choice made, job done no compulsion or assumption
Island Dissident @IslandDissident
- Clarity on how demand will be matched to supply. I presume there isn't much local demand for transplants each year so would local organs still be removed purely to supply demand in other parts of the NHS (e.g. England)? Scope for offering organs to other Euro countries too?
- Would there be a financial advantage to the States Treasury in getting this law adopted, i.e. would the island receive income for each organ supplied to the mainland NHS & would it save money if it could provide locally-harvested organs to local patients needing transplants?
The worry is that someone who doesn't want their organs removed then dies without having in his/her possession at the time of death something telling the authorities not to remove their organs. Then the next of kin are asked and they might be personally in favour of donation...

It's vital families don't have the ability to override or refuse upon death, the donation must happen unless deceased had opted out (or was automatically excluded due to inability to decide).
