Hi Nikita
Following up on your review request, please see below:
- With certain items like straws, non plastic versions are available, the only issue here is cost. People will be resistant to raise costs on purchasing straws if the raise is too high. A number of items for bars come in plastic form ie water bottles. While cans etc are available now, they do come at a premium. Kitchens tend to buy in goods by weight so they don't tend to use a lot of plastic to receive them.
- I feel awareness is picking up but more needs to be done to show how easy, and what alternatives are in place to go plastic free
- We have a number of members (liberation group, cheffins etc) who have taken initial steps towards a more eco-friendly approach to running their business. They would havev to be contacted directly to see if they would be keen to share their initiatives.
- We will probably have some members taking these steps but at the moment I have not been made aware of any. It is labour intensive to do and we are in a situation where we are short staffed in many venues
Let me know if you wish me to elaborate on any of the details Best Regards
Simon
