I think there are enough organisations in Jersey who could be brought together by the States to achieve great things - there is the determination to do so to help the crucial fight against pollution and climate change
I would like to see Jersey become a beacon of 'how to do it' by becoming an eco island - encouraging recycling, re use , reduction, introducing incentives for minimal packaging, especially for local produce, smaller cars, electric cars and encouraging more public transport, cycling paths etc. for example, many of Jerseys beaches have been extremely busy during recent fine weather the amount of recyclable waste being put in ordinary bins at cafes and slipways etc is a scandal
As far as i have seen there are no recycling bins for plastic, cans or anything else - everything is put in large (overflowing ) bins
The only option is to take recyclables home again -I don't think many people bother - do you??
Money raised by selling cans placed in recycling bins could go towards helping keep facilities at the beaches such as loos, showers etc
Why are you not providing such bins and incentivising cafe/bars and people to contribute???
the island urgently needs a taskforce to come up with simple inexpensive ideas that can easily be put into practice - we need to take heed and get together to try and avoid ecological disaster
Thank you M Ellis
