Dear Connetable,

I have seen a proposed press release from the Jersey Landlord's Association and must say that I agree with everything they say. The proposed regulations are draconian and very expensive. It is simply a money making exercise which is extremely inflationary. Any imposed cost will be added to the rents and becomes an extra cost to the tenant. The report contains all the usual inflammatory language and suggests that poor living conditions lead to poor mental and physical health, affects children's life chances etc etc. Stating the bleeding' obvious but going for the sympathy vote. The anecdotal evidence is questionable as well. I have first hand knowledge of one life case that was quoted and you would be shocked to know the truth.

To sum up: the various restrictions and requirements already in place are sufficient and the department concerned just needs to uphold those rules/laws. There is absolutely no need to spend any more money.

Kind regards,

Roger Trower.
