OneGov Review

Mr Mike Rees

27/03/19

With regard to the recent news item about the lack of local applicants for the position(s) of directors within the States Until the residents of the island stop condemning just about everything the States spend money on any local people who have the skills/ability to actually do the job will not consider applying for said positions You cannot have a functioning Civil Service whilst the general population has such a jaundiced view of the work the States do.

And invariably the amount of money it costs for anything to be done Probably there are residents who have the skills/expertise to be Directors within the States. However I suspect they would rather take a chance on moving to the U.K. or further afield to prove their worth rather than having to put up with the constant moaning they would get about the salary they receive and the job that they do.

The culture of the Island/people needs to change first
