Dear Christina,

I hope you are well. I wanted to raise my concerns about the proposed removal of parking around People's Park to enable the widening of Westmount Road.

We live in St Johns Road and there is very limited access to residents parking in the Cheapside area, we can spend up to an hour in the evenings trying to find a free residents space. Loosing those residents parking spaces would have a detrimental effect on the resident population.

Furthermore, the public parking alongside People's Park is open with no height restrictions, there are limited other spaces for van owners to park in, in this area of town. I am also a disabled badge holder and there are three disabled parking spaces around Peoples Park. How are you going to replace all these spaces?

Our other concern is that this area of town is always hugely congested. Making Westmount Road the main access to the new hospital makes no sense. I do not understand why the main access isn't via George V Cottage Homes. The route would go straight off St Aubin's Road and then through the valley. This would have far less impact on town traffic. Of course there could be an additional route via Westmount Road but without the need to extend the road and remove the parking spaces.

We are also confused as to why the road needs extending, what assessment has been undertaken of the traffic volume? It would appear to us that there would be no increase in volume, as all cars whether going to the old or new site would be taking the same route past people park, then either going up Westmount Road to the new hospital or round to park at Kensington place. Both hospital workers and patients do not only travel in rush hour and there will be a similar volume of people arriving and leaving the hospital at all hours of the day and night.

Many thanks for taking the time to read this and happy to discuss in more detail with you. Have a wonderful Christmas and new year

Kind regards
