Anonymous 6 – 16th May 2021 Scrutiny Matters Feedback - Island plan

  1. Yes to affordable housing for first time buyers. High rise a section of town with socially aware spatial developments as seen in Zurich. Enhance and create more town parks. Protect and maintain our heritage buildings throughout the Island.
  2. Create a world class fitness, leisure and wellbeing centre including walled gardens within Fort Regent. (Must have good access via Lift/travelator from central town - perhaps from Snow Hill). Fort Regent could be like a mini Centre Parks - an excellent all year round attraction for both tourists and locals to enjoy. The site is large enough to include conference centre/music venue with Soffitel type hotel accommodation as well.
  3. Cap immigration. We cannot go on building indefinitely as we are an island with finite resources. We must retain the green zone and agricultural fields in order to feed ourselves and maintain some independence.
  4. Ban trawler fishing in Jersey waters - itis destroying marine life.

5)Extend Coastal National park throughout coastline.

6)Do not allow huge private residential developments, especially on the skyline. They are often out of context and destroying the character of Jersey's villages, and scenic bays.

7)Hospital site - The access to Overdale is dire, (so steep and lots of traffic) please no shuttle bus! St Saviour's Hospital site is ideal as it would be large enough for all departments and cater for future expansion. Perhaps the Overdale site could be used solely for sheltered housing village for the elderly.
