Further to our brief meeting last Sunday morning, I wish to confirm my [and other Park Heights Residents] concerns about some of the plans for the new hospital at Overdale.
I understand that, at present, the plans indicate a large two level car park in the fields immediately above, and to the west of our three blocks as well as the adjacent Dandara site formerly known as the Westmount Quarry. It would seem that creating the car park will involve a great deal of excavations and earth removal from those fields.
As you and your colleague observed, the cliffs adjacent to these two sites have been subject to major repair works in recent years following a massive landslide which resulted in millions of pounds worth of repairs, pinning and restoration to the cliffs, much of which was borne by the owners of our apartments.
Clearly our concern now is that any excavations, core sample drilling etc near the edge of the cliffs will either trigger further collapses or weaken the integrity of the aforementioned repairs. This could also have huge implications for the insurance policies covering the work already carried out, as well as the ongoing inspection and maintenance schedule which we pay for.
Obviously if this was to happen then the residents of Park Heights and/or the Dandara estate will hold the developers of the new hospital/car park wholly responsible for any damages or costs incurred as a consequence. I would of course call for this email under Freedom of Information as evidence.
I am copying in our Managing Agents for their records.
Thank you for your interest in this matter I would be grateful if you would convey the Park Heights residents concerns in any forthcoming scrutiny hearing or report subsequently published.
Please can you confirm receipt of this email.
