I wish to express grave concerns about the ongoing expenditure and lack of forward thinking regarding the building of the hospital on the Overdale site. It is an outrageous amount of money, our children, if they can afford to live in Jersey, will be paying for this for many years.
It is not necessary and not suitable for Jersey. The new hospital does not even replace the facilities we have at the moment. The Jersey Care Model is based on an outdated, failed model for the UK. We are 9miles by 5miles. We do not need care in the community as proposed, we need a good General Hospital. This model does not suffice.
I think our ministers need to stop now, and think again. It is becoming a vanity project not fit for purpose.
