With regards to the proposed budget for the new Hospital Project, I would like to express my opinion, which is that the amount suggested is totally ridiculous in relation to an island of 100,000 people that is only 9 miles by 5. I believe that the proposed Hospital Project is just a shameful waste of Tax-payers money, the site selected must be the most expensive option that could possibly have been chosen. Initially 3 properties were to make way and now it would appear that the purchasing of properties has spiralled out of control to in excess of 12 along with the New Waterworks Company. I fail to understand why all these properties have been purchased with our money, when not one plan has been passed yet.
The proposal to spend 804.5 million is in my opinion absolutely ridiculous and I fail to understand how the figure has doubled in cost since the last scheme at Gloucester Street was proposed, it would be a big mistake, for the people of Jersey, if this scheme were to progress and would be a millstone around the neck of many future generations of Islanders when cheaper affordable options must be available. We are not Dubai, London, New York or Hong Kong, surely some common sense should prevail and not this farcical waste of Jersey Tax-Payers money.
