Not being a medical person I cannot comment on those aspects, however, I have seen little indication as to what services / facilities the New Hospital is actually going to provide, this does not seem to have been agreed.
Which asks the inevitable question of how can a builder be appointed when there is no approved plan? The news the other week indicated that there was even a proposal to go back and re-do the proposed plans. How can this possibly work...?
And how can this possibly have lead to costings?
Does the £850M include fitting out? How can it when they don't know what services/facilities are to be provided? Is there another bill to come for the fit out?
How will it all be paid paid for - really. Interest rates will not stay as low as they are. When the New Hospital needs replacing will our grandchildren still be paying for it?
The maternity dept is being revamped (not an issue in itself) but if this can be done without closing the hospital why were the previous plans from doing works whilst extending but keeping the present site abandoned?
The New Hospital in summary:- a totally ridiculous price for a totally ridiculous plan in an even more ridiculous location!
