Dear States of Jersey,

Can someone please give you all a reality check. I have seldom seen such crass ignorance and inflated costing relating to this vanity project.

Based on previous States projects this is one which will provide less service and cost in excess of ONE BILLION pounds of taxpayer money, and will certainly run over budget and time.

You have ignored the site best suited, in my humble opinion St Saviour's Hospital. The clue is in the name. Superb nature surroundings to aid healing, plenty parking. Please don't give me access or traffic excuses - the whole of Jersey is an overrun traffic warren. Build a large shell with the ability to futureproof by later adding a second floor if necessary. Convert the listed building into admin (but please slim this overweighted bureaucracy machine down into an efficient service providing entity focussing on health care and not important sounding titles).

Do a deal with France and send our patients to arguably the best Hospital training establishment in Europe (Oh, forgot, we are not part of Europe!) and offer the French convalescent options for French patients here in Jersey.

Remember that you were all elected on a promise to serve the interests of the Island. So, what do you do? You ignore those and practice self-serving ego instead.

Oh, and sort out a sustainable population policy as well, then we might eventually work with a system that functions.

Mike Etienne
