This is turning into an even bigger fiasco than the last attempt when we were told 'lessons had been learnt.
The site selection 'process' was completely flawed. States members were given the choice of 4 impossible/impractical sites and 1 which was viable, but definitely not a great site compared to Warwick farm, St Saviours hospital, new build at the waterfront or Peoples park. It's impossible to believe that all of these compulsory purchases (which are continuing regardless of costs) are being made. Appointing (seemingly without tender) a construction firm and overseeing partners without firm plans having been drawn up yet and penalty costs monthly without even a foundation being laid! The traffic by any route to the Overdale site will be subject to major traffic delays, hardly what is needed during emergencies. How can the figures (which seem to escalate daily) possible be now around 1 billion pounds. Nowhere else in the world would such a build even come close to this amount and this doesn't even include the costs of borrowing this amount.
This has to be thrown out and a new site be found with competitive tendering to keep costs down.
