I have seen that you would like feedback on the Maternity Facilities currently offered. Please see below for my feedback:
*Air-Conditioning is desperately needed. I prepared by bringing in my own fan as I was made aware of the lack of fans available.
*The shower room provided is on an open corridor with only a little screen covering the door. Is this for safety reasons? There has to be a better solution so patients can shower with more privacy? The shower room itself could do with an overhaul it's too small.
*The alert system in the Maternity Unit is very noisy is there another way Nurses can be alerted without waking the whole Maternity unit? I remember being exhausted but finally able drift off to sleep when the buzzers would go off and startle me awake again.
*Some entertainment I.e TV's would be great especially for someone who has to stay in hospital with their baby for longer than usual. If there are concerns regarding disruption surely wireless headphones could be connected?
*The unit as a whole is very tired looking, and certainly needs an overhaul, hopefully with the new hospital this will no longer be an issue.
*Food - It's not horrible but I find the offerings very old fashioned. A more diverse menu would be lovely if it was possible. I am sure Patients would happily pay for a decent menu.
*Antenatal Clinic - Comfier seating, for heavily pregnant women waiting for up to an hour at times, comfortable seating would go a long way, and like the Maternity unit Air-Con!
With regards to the services provided by the Antenatal Team, Midwives, Doctors and Nurses I have absolutely no complaints, I was extremely well looked after.
I had a C-Section due to Placenta Previa and was extremely nervous about the procedure but I was so impressed with how I was treated and the operating theatre was modern and clean.
My aftercare service was absolutely fabulous as well, although I was fortunate to have my baby during a quiet period.
