Jersey Sport wholly supports resurfacing Springfield Pitch and replacing the floodlights. The life span of a synthetic pitch is around 8-10 years depending on use and Springfield is a very busy pitch. The pitch is essential to supporting football at all levels on the island. The floodlights are needed to support evening use and higher-level evening matches. The Football Foundation helped fund the new pitch at Springfield and the agreement for this requires the GOJ to fund its replacement in and around 10 years. Therefore, not funding this would be in breach of a legal agreement as well as being devastating to local football. Pitches not replaced quickly become a major safety concern and will not pass the testing requirements of the English Football league leaving Jersey Bulls without a venue.

It is vital Fort Regent remains open till the work to expand Oakfield is complete. Therefore, we support the request and need for funding to ensure this is the case.

Kind Regards
