I would strongly advise everybody to use cash when possible. I am surprised at small businesses that do not promote this. Cash is legal currency & it should be compulsory by law to accept it.

Loose cash & you loose control of your spending & privacy of purchase. Part of the problem for the demise of the use of cash is online shopping but local businesses have no excuse to pursue this & it costs them more in bank charges so it is a no brainer as far as I can see.

If you go down the card only plan then your spending can be controlled by outside influence such is Banks & Government because how long would it be before you would get a message such as Sorry Mr. Citizen but you have spent more than your agreed monthly amount so we will freeze your card until the following month' or words to that effect. This is Jersey not North Korea.
