I and others I have spoken to, applaud the stance taken by the government of France in standing up to the banks by outlawing the refusal of cash. It is, after all, a bank led demand.

In abolishing cash, as is happening already, many charities are going to find themselves depleted of essential funds. Most of us are happy to drop a £1 or so into a rattled tin but wouldn't go home and remember to give by transferring funds.

As I get older I find it extremely irritating that we are being led by large institutions into having to accept a way of life which is not necessarily to our advantage.

In being forced to carry and use cards only, fraudsters are getting wealthier by the minute. Such people will be waiting to invent even more schemes to fleece the innocent of the money they've earned and saved.

Please consider following France's lead and enshrine into law the freedom to use your own cash when and where you choose.
