About
The Discrimination (Jersey) Law 2013 was adopted by the States Assembly on 14th May 2013 and was brought into force on 1st September 2014.
Article 5 of the Discrimination Law allows the States to introduce further protected characteristics by regulation. The Social Security Minister proposed to introduce the protected characteristics in the following order:
- Race
- Sex (in conjunction with family friendly legislation)
- Age (in conjunction with changes to the State pension age)
- Disability
The consultation for the disability discrimination regulations was undertaken in 2017. The regulations have been lodged and were debated and accepted on 20th March. The Panel published a Comments paper to help inform the States debate

The main objective wass to either present Comments or an amendment ahead of the debate of the draft regulations.
