About
The Draft Road Traffic (No.68) (Jersey) (Regulations) 202- [P.39/2021] was lodged in the States by the Minister for Infrastructure on 19th April 2021 and was due for States debate on 9th June 2021.
The Draft Regulations, if made, would amend the duty on a driver of a vehicle to report if the vehicle is involved in a road accident by including a new duty on a driver to report when a motor vehicle hits a cat.
Owing to concerns surrounding the policing of the law which had been higlighted to the Panel's Chair shortly before the debate, the Panel has had the Draft Regulations referred to Scrutiny for review under Standing Order 72. The Panel will be liaising with stakeholders, including the Minister for Infrastructure and intends to publish a Comments paper in September, ahead of the revised debate date of 5th October 2021.
