REPORT

On 8th March 2024, the Chief Minister made a Ministerial Decision delegating certain of his functions under Articles 28, 30 and 30A of the States of Jersey Law 2005 (see Decision reference MD-CM-2024-62, available at www.gov.je).

The terms of the delegations, and the legislation under which those delegations were made, were recorded in a Report attached to the Ministerial Decision, as shown below –  _____________________________________________________________________

 

Delegate:

Deputy I. J. Gorst of St. Mary , St. Ouen and St. Peter , Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister1 and

Deputy C. S. Alves of St. Helier Central , Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister2

Legislation:

Control of Housing and Work (Jersey) Law 2012.

Scope of delegation:

The Chief Minister has delegated all powers and functions, conferred upon or vested in the Chief Minister under the Control of Housing and Work (Jersey) Law 2012, to his Assistant Ministers.

This is to include the signing of Ministerial Decisions and the making of Orders.

In addition, in order to enable the Assistant Ministers to deal with matters in relation to the Control of Housing and Work (Jersey) Law 2012 in the States Assembly, the Chief Minister has delegated the following functions:

Standing Order 9(3) – answering questions.

Standing Order 17(1)(a) – making statements.

Standing Order 19(c) – lodging Propositions.

Standing Order 35(1)(b) – presenting Reports or Comments.

Standing Order 68A(3) – proposing Propositions.

 

Delegate:

Officers within the Cabinet Office, as follows:

Senior Officer, Ministerial Office.

Officers within Customer and Local Services, as follows:

Chief Officer.

Group Director, Customer Services.

1 Deputy Gorst was appointed as an Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister for the purposes of chairing the Housing and Work Advisory Group (HAWAG) on 16 February 2024 (MD-CM-2024-101).

2 Deputy Alves was appointed as an Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister on 5 February 2024 (MD-CM-2024-52).
